What is an Insight Engine? Gartner defines it as “Systems that apply relevancy methods to discover, describe, organize and analyze content and data. They enable preexisting or newly synthesized information to be delivered proactively or interactively, in context, to digital workers, customers and others at timely business moments”. As search technologies have evolved, Insight Engines have incorporated machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities to deliver contextual content and data to knowledge workers. They are more than just an enterprise search system because they can provide actionable insights to users instead of just a list of search results that have to be sorted through, which is how most enterprise search systems behave today.
